Here is a job description for a Senior Network Technician
We are seeking a skilled and proactive Network Technician to
join our dynamic IT team. As a Network Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the
smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of our company's network infrastructure. You will be
responsible for troubleshooting network issues, configuring network devices, and collaborating with
other IT professionals to support our organization's technology needs. The ideal candidate possesses

with the latest networking technologies.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and
other network segments to ensure optimal performance and connectivity.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively implement necessary
adjustments to enhance network efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, both hardware and software-related, in a
timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network requirements for various IT projects
and initiatives.
- Perform routine network equipment maintenance and upgrades, including routers, switches, and
firewalls, ensuring they are running with the latest firmware and security patches.
- Implement and manage network security protocols, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion
detection systems to safeguard against potential security breaches.
- Monitor network usage and data traffic to identify and address potential capacity and
performance concerns.

- Assist in creating and maintaining network documentation, including network diagrams,
configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in networking to
propose and implement innovative solutions to improve network performance and security.
- Highly organized with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
simultaneously.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent
practical experience.
- Proven experience working as a Network Technician or in a similar networking role.
- Solid understanding of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs,
and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
- Hands-on experience with network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and access
points from leading vendors.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and network performance analysis.
- Knowledge of network security practices and techniques, including firewall configurations and
VPN setup.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot network issues effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating strong
communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks
simultaneously.
- Industry certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or CompTIA Network+ are
a plus.
